Aleksey Igudesman was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and moved to Germany at the age of six. At the age of 12 he was accepted into the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School, where he studied violin and composition. From 1989 to 1998 he studied violin with Boris Kuschnir at the Vienna Conservatory, where he continues to live. His compositions have been performed worldwide by soloists, ensembles and orchestras, often with him as a solo violinist/conducter. Currently he is performing with his duo Igudesman & Joo and as a soloist, conductor and chamber musician all over the world. With his internationally acclaimed string trio Triology, he has given concerts all over Europe, Asia, America and Australia.

In 2009 they toured Germany, Holland and Belgium as part of the "Night of the Proms", appearing in front of half a million people, next to, and together with rock legends such as Simple Minds, Kim Wilde Sinead O'Conner, Tears for Fears and Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees. Aleksey also works with artists including Gidon Kremer, Julian Rachlin, Julia Fischer, Janine Jansen, Roby Lakatos, Mischa Maisky and Bobby McFerrin. His other projects include composition and arrangements for TV and cinema as well as for the film maker Georg Riha and the Oscar-winning film composer Hans Zimmer.
