The second part of Wolfgang Rihm’s series Nähe fern for orchestra is given its world première in Lucerne on 19 Oct. The Lucerne Symphony Orchestra is conducted by James Gaffigan.

David Bedford has died

David Bedford was a prominent member of the British music scene for over forty years. He died on 1 October.

Friedrich Cerha's new work Paraphrase über den Anfang der 9. Symphonie von Beethoven will be given its world première on 6 Oct. Riccardo Chailly conducts the Gewandhausorchester.

Alexander Zemlinsky: New arrangements of 6 Gesänge

In 1921 Erwin Stein arranged two of Alexander Zemlinsky's Sechs Gesänge. To complete the collection, Andreas Tarkmann has now arranged the other four songs for medium voice and chamber ensemble.
