Sotelo: New work for ensemble

Klang-Muro ... II, the new ensemble work by Mauricio Sotelo will receive its world première on 29 May. Jordi Bernàcer conducts the Grup Instrumental de València.

Bow Down, Harrison Birtwistle’s music-theatre work from 1977 employs 5 actors and 4 musicians to tell the ancient ballad of 'The Two Sisters'. First performance of the new production: 17 May in Brighton.

Lulu – reduced version for chamber orchestra

Eberhard Kloke has created a reduced version of Alban Berg’s Lulu for chamber orchestra. The world première of the new version takes place this May at the City Theatre in Gießen.

New Wozzeck at the Salzburg Theatre

From 11 May the Salzburg Theatre is staging a new production of Alban Berg’s opera Wozzeck in the scaled-down version by Canadian composer John Rea.

Mahler: Das Trinklied vom Jammer der Erde for tenor and orchestra

Colin Matthews was commissioned by Sir Mark Elder and the Hallé Orchestra to arrange the first movement of the Lied von der Erde. The premiere of this version of the first movement will take place on 10 May.
