Janáček’s From the House of the Dead in Vienna

This is how the Vienna State Opera announces the contents of Janáček’s opera From the House of the Dead, which premières on 11 December 2011.
The State Opera is showing the controversial production by Peter Konwitschny from the Zurich Opera house. Franz Welser-Möst conducts.
UE is currently working on a new edition of the score of the opera under the careful eye of John Tyrell. His work is based on the provisional edition he created together with Sir Charles Mackerras in 1990. The new version attempts to get closer to Janacek’s artistic vision than the existing editions, including various radical elements that have never before been heard.
