Luke Bedford – walking with Mahler
Mahler series at Bridgewater Hall
As part of the Mahler in Manchester series at the Bridgewater Hall, renowned composers have been asked to write new works to accompany the performances of Mahler’s symphonies. UE composers Friedrich Cerha and Luke Bedford are amongst those taking part.
Cerha's Like a Tragicomedy has been written to accompany Mahler's Symphony No. 3. Bedford’s At Three and Two for winds, percussion and double basses will be performed before Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 on 27 May by the Hallé Orchestra conducted by Mark Elder. The concert will be broadcast on 31 May on BBC Radio 3.
