Perhaps the most famous of the Baroque lutenists, Silvius Leopold Weiss also composed prolifically for the instrument. These pieces will make welcome additions to the usual guitar repertoire for, although only a few of his pieces for solo lute are really suitable for the guitar, the idiomatic sound of both instruments is close enough to justify these arrangements.
