Staud: New Project at Wien Modern
Tanzquartier Vienna
Johannes
Maria Staud was the celebrated composer-in-residence of last year’s Wien Modern festival. This
year, he is back again with an attractive and though-provoking dance project.
It has already become strikingly apparent that Staud’s complex structures are not an end in themselves, but also contain a great amount of movement impulses in their rhythmic variety. One result of this was the combination of single works which, once choreographed, were then joined together as a sort of spatial assembly. The dancer and choreographer Anne Juren and the artist Roland Rauschmeier have now created an evening’s work which transgresses all genres: Tableaux Vivants – living images.
Tableaux Vivants includes music from Staud’s Berenice. Suite I, Berenice. Suite II, Lagrein, Studie für Tonband solo and recorded material from the opera Berenice.
World première: 9 November 2011
further performances: 11 + 12 November
