Staud: New work for orchestra

On 9 Feb this year Johannes Maria Staud’s new work Maniai (ancient Greek goddesses of revenge) will be presented by the RSO Munich under Mariss Jansons.

Hans Sommer/Clytus Gottwald: Drei Lieder

Clytus Gottwald's new arrangement of Hans Sommer's Drei Lieder for choir will be performed on 29 January. Georg Grün conducts the KammerChor Saarbrücken.

Haas: New work for voices

Mlake / Laaken is the third part of Georg Friedrich Haas’ work SCHWEIGEN (Silence), written for the Escalier du Chant project. The première is on 18 December.

Sotelo: Two world premières in Spain

Francis Burt: New work for ensemble

Rihm: New work for baritone and ensemble

Reinbert de Leeuw conducts the world première of Der Maler träumt for baritone and ensemble by Wolfgang Rihm on 29 Oct in Amsterdam.

On 29 Oct the new piano piece For Marino by Friedrich Cerha will recieve its world première during the Wien Modern festival.

Rihm: New work for ensemble

On 25 Oct. Wolfgang Rihm’s Will sound more again will recieve its world première in Porto. Emilio Pomàrico conducts the Remix Ensemble.

Cerha: New work in Leipzig

Friedrich Cerha's new work Paraphrase über den Anfang der 9. Symphonie von Beethoven will be given its world première on 6 Oct. Riccardo Chailly conducts the Gewandhausorchester.

Alexander Zemlinsky: New arrangements of 6 Gesänge

In 1921 Erwin Stein arranged two of Alexander Zemlinsky's Sechs Gesänge. To complete the collection, Andreas Tarkmann has now arranged the other four songs for medium voice and chamber ensemble.

Georg Friedrich Haas: New String Quartet

Georg Friedrich Haas' String Quartet No. 7 will be given its world première by the Arditti Quartet at the Lucerne Festival (10 Sept).

Arvo Pärt: 3 world premières

On 9 and 10 Sept Arvo Pärt's three new orchestra versions of Beatus Petronius, Statuit ei Dominus and Salve Regina will be given their world première at the MITO SettembreMusica Festival.

Mauricio Sotelo: world première in Schwaz

The world première of Mauricio Sotelo's Cuerpos robados for violin, declaimer and orchestra is on 8 Sept during the Klangspuren Festival in Schwaz, performed by the Tyrol Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck.

Pelleas and Melisande in three versions

Apart from Arnold Schönberg’s original orchestration of Pelleas and Melisande, UE also publishes a reduced version by Erwin Stein. We have recently released a version for chamber orchestra by Cliff Colnot (2008).

Rihm: New work for soprano and orchestra

Wolfgang Rihm’s Eine Strasse, Lucile “a scene for soprano and orchestra” (after Georg Büchner’s “Dantons Tod”) will receive its world première on 9 July in Karlsruhe.

On 22 June Rihm’s new work for orchestra – Nähe fern 1, ‘answers to Brahms’ – will be heard for the first time. James Gaffigan conducts the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.

First chamber opera by Luke Bedford

This is the long-awaited first opera from Luke Bedford, one of the UK’s leading young composers. The world première of Seven Angels take place on 17 June 2011 at the CBSO Centre Birmingham.
