A busy year at UE

UE at the GRAMMYS 2011

The 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, 13 Feb, 2011. Among the nominees are works by Alban Berg, Frank Martin, Arnold Schönberg and Arvo Pärt.

Rudolf Barshai has died at the age of 86 (1924-2010)

He was the composers’ friend. This is how Bernd Feuchtner, Rudolf Barshai’s biographer, describes the conductor, viola player and arranger. Barshai has died on 2nd November in Basel at the age of 86.

Georg Friedrich Haas: SWR Symphony Orchestra Composition Prize 2010

Georg Friedrich Haas’ work limited approximations, a concerto for 6 pianos in twelve-tone intervals and orchestra, premiered to great acclaim on 17 Oct 2010 at the Donaueschinger Musiktagen 2010 under Sylvain Cambreling with the SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden and Freiburg. The piece received the SWR Symphony Orchestra Composition Prize for the “most remarkable orchestral work of the festival“, chosen by the musicians.

World première of Arvo Pärt's Silhouette

Arvo Pärt's Silhouette, Hommage à Gustave Eiffel, will be given its world première on 04 Nov under Paavo Järvi and the Orchestre de Paris at the Salle Pleyel.
