Work introduction
"Kojo No Tsuki" or "Moonlight in the Ruin of a Castle" is a famous Japanese song written in the Meiji period. I was fascinated by it, because it manages to capture old style Japan as well as building a bridge to the 20th century. My variations on the theme include "Tea at Wolfgangs", "Sashimi with Paganini", "Johann's uncle from Osaka" and other humorous reinventions in various styles, bringing it back to Japan at the end. The name of each variation may be announced by the performers at designated places during the piece.
