Biography
David Ernest Mc Carthy is a Modernist, Acoustic-Music composer, with a repertory of work that spans Music Theatre, Orchestral and Chamber Music. He is the son of an Irish Impressionist painter and was introduced to Art and Music young in life, taking keyboard lessons in early childhood. David studied under Minimalist composer Dr Donnacha Dennehy at the University Of Dublin, on the MMT programme. In 2021, he won 3rd Prize in the Franz Schubert Conservatory (Vienna) “World Championship In Composition” and won 1st Prize in the “Academia Musica Competition” in the same year. His work has been supported by various funders in his home country Ireland, including the arts offices of Meath and Louth, Creative Ireland, and the Irish Arts Council.
