Work introduction

Almost as soon as the premiere of BIG LUNG was over back in 2008, I had wondered about the possibility of making a 'concert hall' version of the piece that didn't require a church organ. One of the aspects of the piece that can get lost in a reverberant church acoustic is the precise interplay between the right and left hands of the organ. By splitting the manuals between two separate electric organs in the new version, my hope is that the inner workings of the piece will become much more audible. Whilst the majority of the percussion music remains unaltered, the character of the piece will be inevitably transformed and I'm really looking forward to hearing the piece in a new way!
