Work introduction

A tragic fate overshadowed Heinrich Kaminski’s life. He lost his teaching post at the Prussian Academy of Arts because of his partially Jewish origins, three of his children died between 1939 and 1945 – his own demise came a year later. Over the years, his works passed more or less into oblivion, although he was an extremely unconventional composer with his own unmistakable personal voice, one which is also strongly in evidence in the Concerto grosso, his most successful piece during his lifetime.
