
International Composition Competition CCOM, mdw & UE
The Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and Universal Edition are jointly launching the International Competition for Young Composers. The composition competition will take place every two years, alternating between a chamber music work and an orchestral work, starting in 2025 with a call for a chamber music work with a duration between 10 and 12 minutes. Contestants must be born in 1990 or later. There are no nationality restrictions.
The International Competition for Young Composers aims at providing a stage for
young composers around the world to showcase their talents as well as
strengthening academic and cultural exchange and building a community. The Jury Committee will be composed of internationally renowned composers
invited by CCOM, the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts and UE, to
ensure the fairness and transparency of the scoring process. The final concert,
in which the three winners of the competition will be selected, will take place
on 30 November 2025 in the late afternoon at the MuTh in Vienna in the presence
of the jury. The winners will be announced in a separate ceremony after the
concert. All winners have the right to publish their works with UE via scodo
and will receive an annual subscription for scodo as part of the prize.
