Description
The whole composition is based on one word 'shatum' and the phonemes echoes in timbre colors of the percussion. Shatum - Šat-um is reversed word "tum-ša", which in latvian language means "dark".
Only at the very end we hear the other word - "gaiša" - "gaisha", which means "bright". Asociatively, I imagine the emotional power of the syllables - 'ša' is open, jubilant, excited, 'tum' is more hollow, mysterious, rhythmic. Ensemble is divided in two groups, which respond and imitate each other like in antiphon.
