Ein Gebet an einem klaren Tag

This short composition for violincello and piano was written in response to two stimuli. The first was the bright blue sky and sunny weather to be found in the summer months on The Gower Peninsula in South Wales, UK. On one of these fine sunny days I was sat at the piano looking out through the window and memories of my childhood kept playing and replaying in mind, as if overlapped with the actual landscape outside, which includes a very large and ornate Welsh Chapel building. The title tries to encapsulate the experience of the weather, the memories and the Church building, all rolled into a pastoral theme through composed melody for the violincello evoking those memories we all cherish of our childhood.
