Work introduction
“Marcus seems to compose in the manner of an obsessive studio work, expecting equally feverish interpreters. Music that is never repeated, subjecting the material to multiple variants prior to its presentation; music that never reaches a cadence, sometimes in unpredictable suspensions of time, sometimes in immeasurable flux; music that never quotes, it sounds hybrid without any external references. The revelation of deep meaning in musical material seems to occur throughout the quest that the precise notation in the score has the same force and impact as the most surprising improvisation. If responsibility for an organic structure is always present, strong is the imposition of will over argument. Music born from the Babel in which we find ourselves, it does not testify to its structural violence; rather, it detaches itself from hostile reality and invites our ears to turn inward. (Mauricio De Bonis, composer and professor at the São Paulo State University - UNESP).”
Marcus Siqueira has works for several formations: orchestra, chamber music, madrigal, choir, with live electronics (P.D. and Max Msp), and several solo pieces. He also uses multimedia and electronic resources in his works for the theatre and live performances.
