Description
"The desire to write an a cappella work in English was born in Cambridge during a lecture I gave at the University's Faculty of Music at the invitation of composer and teacher Jeremy Thurlow. Amazed by the beauty of the student choirs I heard during this trip, I wanted to write a Nunc Dimittis for choir in English. This allowed me to tame the sounds of another language, to bring out its harmonics in the sounds and to play with the whispered voices to best serve the meditative meaning of this liturgical text." It was premiered in concert in Paris by the Choeur de Paris under the direction of Till Aly (dedicatee of the piece) on October 2, 2016 at the Eglise Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois.
This expressive work is intended for professional and amateur adult choirs.
This music was also heard in the film Santo Subito by Grzegorz Tomcak dedicated to the beatification of John Paul II . This film was broadcast in Poland on Telewizja Polska and also in France.
