Wolfgang Rihm's Concerto en Sol not only alludes to the world premiere soloist Sol Gabetta in the title. The music also refers to the spirited nature of the Argentinean-born artist; it is agile, energetically charged and yet essentially vocal. Complexity and emotions are by no means mutually exclusive. The premiere will take place on 20 January 2020 in the Victoria Hall in Geneva. The Basel Chamber Orchestra will perform, with Sylvain Cambreling as the musical director. Further dates in Zurich (21), Bern (22), Basel (23), Grenoble (24) and Fribourg (26) will follow.
