The sound of "Christmas palm" in the breeze!

Richard Graf has selected some of the most beautiful Christmas songs from around the world and presented them in player-friendly, easy arrangements. The lyrics to the songs are included for singing along. Each piece also has information about its origins and the Christmas customs in the land from which it was derived. The songs are a contrasting mix – some we know and some less familiar.

This is a flexible collection of Christmas songs from around the world, with commentary on Christmas traditions in the featured countries. It comes with a CD and a set of parts which could be used by a variety of instruments – there are melody I and melody II parts for instruments in C, Bb, and Eb, and there are also percussion, guitar, piano and bass parts. (...) England is represented by “We wish a Merry Christmas”, France by Il est né, le divin enfant, Austria by Stille Nacht , USA by “Jingle Bells” and Spain by Zumba zum. (...) I did enjoy Zumba zum, which I had not heard before, and it was interesting to hear other less well-known examples from around the world, such as Vamos Pastorcillos from Argentina. It would be necessary to use piano, guitar or CD to fill out the music, which would suit a Junior School group of about Grade 1-2 standard. The CD is well recorded using different instrumental combinations, and each piece is played twice, the second time without the tune. Music Masters' and Mistresses' Association (MMA) Journal, 1/2005

(...) The World Music Junior and Play-along Junior series – a selection of pieces from numerous countries around the world, some many centuries old – assist beginner instrumentalists in developing their basic skills. Equipped with simple accompaniment, both notated and on CD, these resources (...) appeal to this market. (…) Music Teacher 12/2004
