Who doesn’t know the perhaps most popular piece of music in Stanley Kubrick’s movie “Eyes Wide Shut” (1999) - Dmitri Shostakovich’s waltz No. 2 from the “Suite for Variety Orchestra”?
This energetic waltz whose melody remains in your mind long after fading out was now arranged in an easy version for flute or treble recorder and guitar by Jean Cassignol and Michel Démarez. It’s an ideal catchy performance piece and is also published in the following instrumentations: four clarinets (UE36069), treble recorder and piano (UE36673) and recorder orchestra (UED3672223).
I’m a big fan of the flute/guitar combination and encourage my students to get together with guitarists rather than just pianists.
