The composer David Bedford has died aged 74.
Bedford studied with Lennox Berkeley in London and later with Luigi Nono in Venice. For over 40 years he was one of the most prominent figures in the British music scene, and was also active as a composer of music for TV and film. His name became even more popular in connection with his arrangement of Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells for orchestra in 1975. Bedford also composed educational works and was participated in creative workshops at home and abroad.
