Gustav Mahler and Universal Edition

Musikmesse Frankfurt – Frankfurt Music Fair
April 2-5 2019
Hall 3.1 Booth C43

Gustav Mahler is something like the DNA of Universal Edition. Since 1909, exactly 110 years ago, Universal Edition has taken on the responsibility of publishing and promoting his work in the highest possible quality. At the Frankfurt Music Fair 2019, Universal Edition presents two new critical editions that impressively document our sense of responsibility for Mahler's work: Titan and the Symphony No. 4

Marina Mahler (granddaughter of Gustav Mahler) and Marcus Rudolf Axt (artistic director of the Bamberg Symphony) talking about the new edition of the Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition in Bamberg in 2020 (announcement of the jury and exact dates). But also, the relevance of Mahler today and the obligation to disseminate his work in editions that are state of the art in musicology will be discussed.
