Klangspuren: opening concert with Haas and Staud

The Klangspuren opening concert in Schwaz features works of two UE composers, Georg Friedrich Haas and Johannes Maria Staud.

Haas, newly crowned winner of the 2013 Salzburg Composition Prize, continues his explorations of ways to broaden orchestral sound using microtonal structures in the world première of Tetraedrite for orchestra.

By contrast, Staud’s Maniai (Austrian première) invokes the Erinyes, the Greek spirits of revenge – and the piece commences accordingly: wild, virtuosic and impulsive. Later it moves into calmer waters and ends in unadorned beauty.
