Biography
Christa Landon studied piano, organ, harpsichord and music theory at the Vienna Academy of Music. Until 1958 she was a staff member at the Haydn Society founded by her husband H. C. Robbins Landon. The founding of this society constituted the beginning of modern Haydn research. Christa Landon specialized in the works of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. It was her edition of Haydn’s piano sonatas published by the Wiener Urtext Edition that established her legendary reputation in musicology.
