Universal Edition's Cooperation with Project Butterfly
We are happy to announce our collaboration with Project Butterfly!
Project Butterfly, co-funded by the European Commission's Creative Europe Programme, aims to create a new attitude towards sustainability in theatre and opera houses. To do so, the project does through the entire process of opera co-creation and co-production of a sustainable opera.
A particular focus is set on engaging young audiences throughout the whole process:
High school students from Italy, Poland and Finland engaged virtually to create the concept and libretto of an environmentally themed opera.
Three selected composers/lyricists, to be announced in the near future, will then collaborate with the creative team to write music for these stories.
Finally, the production is scheduled to premiere in May 2025, utilizing advanced digital technologies. Workshops on sustainable opera production will be disseminated through AR and VR technologies.
