The Cunning Little Vixen
Das schlaue Füchslein
Leoš Janáček's opera The Cunning Little Vixen is undoubtedly one of the most important music-dramatic works of the 20th century. According to the composer himself, he wanted to create a parable about the cycle of life with this "forest idyll". From the first moment, the listeners of the work are transported into an almost breathless tension. Janáček's unmistakable musical language with its sheer overflowing abundance of motifs and themes makes the audience forget the time and at the end evokes astonishment that the two hours of playing time should already have passed.
