Work introduction
Quartetto n.3 for string quartet.
"Matter, which in Quartetto n.2 is a finite object that must be kept under observation, in this one becomes an element to be shaped. The prevalent intent is to sculpt this material, starting with the original sound to discover the forms and evolutions it harbours within".
This work is inspired by a famous Sonetto by Michelangelo Buonarroti:
“Nothing the greatest can conceive
That every marble block doth not confine
Within itself: and only its design
The hand that follows intellect can achieve.”
