It was only after the death of Johann Strauß (jun.) in 1899 that these two waltzes were discovered - left as part of his estate. As well as the "Abschiedswalzer", the "Ischler Walzer" can certainly be regarded as a homage to his beloved lschl, where he used to spend his summers.
This volume offers two intriguing examples of the finesse with which the "King of Waltz" made this dance a prestigious work of art particularly with regard to form, rhythm and melody.
