Jan Holý

Jan Holý violinist, singer, band leader and composer. Born on July 30, 1948 in Bohemia, where he still lives. He began to devote himself to composing activities only at a late age, after an important stimulus, which was the award of his composition for choir during the 10th International composition Competition in Jihlava (Czech Republic) in 2010.

2016 - finalist of the Film Music Composititon Contest (Italy, Spain)

2017 - finalist of the 3rd International Composers Competition „Maurice Ravel“, received the Special Mention. (Italy, Spain).

2018 - finalist of the 1st International Creative Composers Competition, received the Honourable Mention in two categories. (Italy, Spain)

2019 - placed on the „Jury Recommended List of Works“ at the International Uuno Klami Competition. (Finland).

2021- 17th K. Serocki International Composers Competition (Poland), received the award (3rd prize).

2022 - Platform for Singing Composers Competition (Czech Republic), received the award (1st prize).

2024 - International Composition competition VIENNA CLASSICAL MUSIC ACADEMY (Vienna, Austria), in a very strong international participation, the score for chamber string orchestra entitled "Just Away and out" was awarded the (3rd prize).

2024 - the composition "Blue Dandelion" for solo violin was awarded the „Grand Prize“ at the "International Music Competition for Music Composition 2024", Atlanta, USA

2024 - the composition "Harlequin's Carnival" for solo violin and orchestra was awarded the "Diamond Prize" in the "Carl Reinecke International Music Competition2024" at the Original Composition category.
