Work introduction
The Gundula’s duets (six duets for two flutes)were written in Vienna in 1996. After a deep study of Johann Christian Bach’s flutes duets, Nelly LiPuma wrote these pieces. The duet Nr.1 reachs an oniric atmosphere through the triplets movement. In the Nr.2 the second flute sounds like an echo of the first. The Nr.3 after a “rallentando meditativo” ends with humor and irony. The Nr.4,”alla breve” is characterized from the strictly imitations. The Nr.5,”Molto lento”,also with imitative figures, has a very intime and quiet character. The Nr.6 describes the liveliness of a carneval in Venedig.
