Work introduction
In Anachronism, associations with minimal music are a key element – even though “the time structure and compositional processes are far removed from the historical reference points” (Georg Friedrich Haas). In an interview with the New York Times, Haas recalled old newspapers in which photographs were essentially a rough pattern of individual dots. Anachronism takes a similar approach. Haas’ harmonic world is projected in the grain of a “relentlessly pulsating 11/8 time signature”.
