Biography
Shao Suan LOW is a classically trained pianist and self-taught composer from Singapore. A graduate of the famed École Normale de Musique de Paris - Alfred Cortot in France, she has performed numerous times with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra as a double piano soloist. As a chamber musician, she has collaborated with world-renowned musicians such as flutist Davide Formisano, trombonist Jörgen van Rijen, saxophonist Claude Delangle, and tubist Øystein Baadsvik. Her pop songs have been sung by Asian pop singers such as Vivian Hsu (Taiwan) and Mink (South Korea-Japan).
Shao Suan's instrumental compositions have been performed in countries such as Singapore, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Austria, Brazil, Italy and USA. A few of them have won awards such as "Runner Up" and "Winner" at the 2009 and 2021 UK Songwriting Contest" respectively, "Honorable Mention" award at the 12th USA Songwriting Competition, and "3rd Prize (Category B)" at the International Composition Competition "Maurice Ravel" in Bergamo, Italy. In 2014, "Romance in the City", Shao Suan's joint debut album featuring original works by her an her twin sister, Shao Ying, received the "2014 Artistic Performance Album of the Year" award at the 10th Hi-Fi Album Awards 2014 in Guangzhou, China. The sisters subsequently released two more albums of their own works, "Music Diaries" and "Summer Vacation", of which the latter was ranked no. 1 on iTunes' "Top 100 Classical Albums Chart", as well as no. 3 on iTunes' "Top Music Albums Charts" in Singapore. Shao Suan's solo piano single, "Soulmates", was recently released on Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, KKBox, Mymusic, friDay Music and Line Music.

About the music
Shao Suan's compositional style is a mixture of neo-classical, New Age, film and jazz. Her music is sometimes influenced by the likes of Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Debussy, Fauré and John Williams. She aims to write melodious, easy listening and relaxing music which musicians would enjoy playing and which listeners would enjoy listening over and over again.
