Work introduction
When I was eleven I composed a piece for flute with the title Arietta di Cordova. During the years I often thought to rewrite that piece using my current musical writing. So, this is the new version. Generally speaking the piece is the same, but when I was eleven I didn’t know very well solfeggio so later I have adjusted rhythms, bar lines and some notes to improve the form of the piece. The most important thing for me is the idea behind the piece. I mean the idea to write contemporary flute music with no use of extended techniques. I have written a lot of music using extended techniques and probably I'll compose other music using them but in my opinion these techniques are not necessarily synonymous of contemporary music. So, realize that a piece composed when I was eleven - without knowing the existence of extended techniques - can be still actual for me is a source of love towards this piece.
