Work introduction
Folletti (It. for goblins) was written in Italy in 1995 after a journey throughout Germany.
The composer was strongly impressed by the beauty of the Schwarzwald.
“The suggestivity of the German winter landscape, the snow and the fog surrounding the
roots of the trees creates a fantastic scenery reminding me of the Nordic tales I had former read.
In my imagination the German woods are inhabited by laborious goblins living in the huge and majestic trees.
All this remains invisible to the eyes of the distracted and hurried wanderer. The goblins live on unseen in a world of their own until they fade away in the vanishing light of fantasy and the awaking of reason.”
