Work introduction
About the genesis of the composition
I originally wrote Fons luminis (Source of Light) for violin, clarinet and piano and subsequently for 3 clarinets and piano in spring 2007. I performed the 1st version for the first time in August 2007 together with Sabine Weiskirchner (violin) and Hans-Josef Knaust (organ) in Salzburg Cathedral. A few months later, Fons luminis was performed in an orchestral setting as the 2nd movement of the three-part work entitled Hymnus pro lumen for clarinet, string quartet and string orchestra on 18.11.2007, in the Malakoff Tower of Prosper II in Bottrop with the Bottrop Chamber Orchestra under the musical direction of Kai Röhrig.
The version for 2 clarinets and piano (or harp, organ or accordion) was written in 2012 on request of Gábor Lieli (clarinet) and Katharina Teufel (harp).
