About the genesis of the composition
I wrote Fons luminis (Source of Light) for violin, clarinet and piano at the same time as the version for 3 clarinets and piano in spring 2007. I performed the 1st version for the first time in August 2007 together with Sabine Weiskirchner (violin) and Hans-Josef Knaust (organ) in Salzburg Cathedral. A few months later, Fons luminis was heard in orchestral instrumentation as the 2nd movement of the three-part work entitled Hymnus pro lumen for clarinet, string quartet and string orchestra on 18.11.2007, in the Malakoff Tower of Prosper II in Bottrop with the Bottrop Chamber Orchestra under the musical direction of Kai Röhrig.
In 2012, at the request of clarinettists Gábor Lieli and harpist Katharina Teufel, another version wrote for 2 clarinets and harp.
