Work introduction
My mother told me is a song in Egil’s Saga.
The Egils saga, is an epic poem/saga of the Icelanders written perhaps by Snorri Sturluson in Iceland probably between 1220 and 1240.
The Egils saga is considered among the best sagas of the Icelanders, and it tells us a lot about the end of the Viking Age.
The saga tells the life of Egill Skallagrímsson, an Icelandic peasant who became a Viking and a skald; Icelandic scholars commonly refer to the saga as the Egla.
The saga which starts in Norway, spans the years c. 850 – 1000 and traces the family history from Egil's grandfather to his offspring.
Egill Skallagrímsson was a Viking Age war poet, sorcerer, berserker, and farmer. He is known mainly as the anti-hero of Egil's Saga.
