Work introduction
Roman Haubenstock-Ramati wrote the orchestral work Nocturnes I for the Grazer Musikprotokoll in 1981, to a commission by ORF. The composer himself described the piece as music made up of “many short, tender, shifting melodies and whispering noises; the light and the darker, like ever-changing clouds.”
