Work introduction
With this
piece I wanted to tell a continuous narrative through the juxtaposition of
various scenes: my visual image came from photographs of the two slightly
eccentric Wright brothers as they finally succeeded, after countless experiment
and much failure, in performing the first powered, sustained and controlled
man-made flight on 17th December 1903 at the Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk,
North Carolina. They also provided me with the work's subtitle - "a
mechanical ballet".
