Description
Stella Polaris is a musically and graphically composed work for at least 4 to any number of clarinets in the same tune.
The picture score consists of 44 star-shaped motifs, which are arranged in a spiral form from the outside to the center. All musicians play the same motifs, in the same order from1 to 44, in the same number together but in time independently of each other. The dynamics and articulation of the motifs can also be individually created. The individual motifs may be played 1 to 5 times with any tone of the notated arpeggi starting. Number of repetitions may be changed motif to motif, but must be determined together in the preparation phase. Slight overlaps may occur, but all musicians should advance from one motif to another motif in time with each other, so that a transparent harmonic continuous sound flow without rough pauses can develop.
For the preparation phase, are available an additional picture score with white background and a practice voice for all involved with conventional notation. Here all arpeggi are schematically shown in the same form, but the initial and final tones can be chosen themselves. The dynamic names are only a proposal for a varied dynamic creation. It may be created together or individually.
