“Nolite Arbitrari” is a work by Maurizio Gabrieli for mixed choir (SATB) and organ, composed in 2017. The composition is conceived for liturgical use and reflects Gabrieli's typical tonal language and harmonic textures. The composition combines a minimalist type of structure and form with the frequent use of scattered dissonances. Some sound gestures (the scalar movements to each other) are inspired by some of the latest film music scores, especially by H. Zimmer.
