Description
Almagest is in two parts: the first exploring dense ensemble textures
while the second features solos with more transparent scoring. In general
the piece begins with maximum energy slowly yielding entropy,
a metaphor suggesting the heat death of the universe.
What does this distribution of energy look like? Over trillions of
years, stars will run out of fuel, and orbits will decay, causing planets
to fall. Everything will end up in black holes, until they probably radiate
their energy away as well. The universe will become permanently
unmoving and unchanging.
Almagest is an Arabic term which refers in general to ancient texts of
alchemy, astrology, and astronomy. It also refers to a specific treatise
attributed to Ptolomy's 3rd cen. star catalog which lists over 1000
objects and remained the chief source of astronomical information until
Copernicus.
