Description
The most important formal construction element of Sexteto Nº 3 consists -seen at a basic level- in the use of very close interval distances between instruments (minimum 2), ie, the instruments are related by second minor and major intervals. This compositional procedure was used for the first time in González' Mass for mixed choir in 1979. Here, because the instruments are more flexible than a choir, the harmonic richness can be fully developed as well as more complex rythmic structures. Sexteto Nº 3 was premiered in 1981 in Paris at the Alfred Cortot hall of the École Normale de Musique with members of the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Daniel Gazon, conductor. The audio version presented here was made by the Moldova's Ars Sonora ensemble in 1992, Oswaldo González, conductor.
