Rhinobassus is based on the opposition between the dynamic sections of the piece that are creating a sound continuum in which rhythm plays an important role, and the contrasting sections based on long notes, in which improvisational structures appear. Exploring the full range of the instrument and the performer's willingness to adapt to unexpected changes are challenges for those who will approach this work.
