Description
e piece should have been part of a series of four compositions for flute, violin, bassoon and piano
whom introduction should have been a sort of cadenza for solo bassoon. As the solo was taking shape
was clear to me that I had to focus on this very instrument, which “voice” I have always loved.
The first “Game” is a sort of “divertissement” based on two opposite harmonic regions. In the second
piece I wanted to explore the polyphonic possibilities of this monophonic instrument. In the central
section there are two contrasting lines (due to harmony, to range and to the different melodic contents)
which should give the impression to proceed overlapping. Like the first piece, also this second ends in
the highest register of the instrument and the two endings hide a quote to the most famous bassoon
solo of the XX century.
