Work introduction
Broken is part of the 7 eMotions project, in which seven composers were invited to explore musically disgust, sadness, joy, surprise, contempt, anger and fear. I had to handle „fear”, the composition unfortunately overlapping with the terrible moment of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. During the work there are programmatic moments, the pizzicato of the flute reminding of the tears of pain, the use of the voice at the climax wishing to amplify the terror.
Broken was performed for the first time by Carla Stoleru.
