Work introduction
The full title of this piece is “Dew Drop Dares To Play With The Light Of The Sun.” It is written for flute, viola and Harp. It was written during my years at graduate school when I attended the University of Oregon School of Music located in Eugene Oregon. The model that was suppose to inspire me/us was of course Debussey’s Trio For Flute Viola and harp a truly magnificent work of art.
The formal design of “Dew Drop Dares To Play With The Light of The Sun” consists of a collection of brief episodes, interludes and variations.
They are: 1. Theme
2. Episode 1
3. Viola solo
4. Variation 1
5. Episode 2
6. Episode 3
7. Flute solo
8. Theme (reprise)
I have a brief explanation about the connotation contained in the title of this composition. The title is a metaphor. Imagine a morning dew drop lovingly, sincerely playing with the beautiful powerful sun. The sun, the very thing that will inevitably destroy it.
This score is in A4 format.
