Work introduction
The trombone and the cello are instruments with different evolutionary lines. The sonic and historical ambivalences have started a research about commonalities and differences between quantifiable (material-sound, spectral) and qualifiable (gestural, phraseological) elements. The piece, using the metaphor of the tangle as exploration, is a journey of the characters-instruments intent on discovering, identifying and merging.
First step: Discovery within a context (Into)
Second step: Separation by means of "movement" (Dusky field)
Third step: Identification and subsequent fusion/dissolution (Disclosure).
The initial impulse gives energy at the instruments that moves themselves in articulations between opposing spectral states (harmonic and inharmonic). At the end there is the attempt to connect with the environment, to relation and each other fusion. The passage ends with a Xenakisian quotation.
