Each of the 10 caprices presented here corresponds exactly to the criteria of the definition quoted above. The diverse technical aspects merge with the imagination and liveliness of musical invention to create a work with a highly challenging character. The caprices are quite demanding, but always convey great joy in playing and a willingness to make an effort. They are equally suitable as concertante performance pieces as well as for study purposes.
